Sub: Performance by Indian Fusion Band ‘East India Company’ on 3rd Nov. 2014.

Embassy of India, Belgrade, in collaboration with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), New Delhi, has great pleasure to announce that the performance of the 8-member Indian Fusion Band ‘East India Company’, led by Angaraag Papon Mahanta, will be held at 2000 hrs on 3rd November 2014 at Dom Omladine [Main Hall], Makedonska 22, Belgrade.

Papon (Angaraag Mahanta) – a multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer and singer has become one of the most recognizable and sought after voices in India. While rooted in folk, Papon has a wide variety of influences and considered to be an extremely versatile artist. His initial training has been in Indian classical and traditional music (devotional and folk) from Assam. His innovative experiments are rich with ambient electronic, acoustic folk, electroghazals to new-age Indi-classical sounds.

Papon and his folk-fusion band ‘East India Company’ have performed at all the music festivals in India. They also performed at the du WORLD MUSIC FESTIVAL in Dubai in 2013. The year 2014 was kick started with 3 performances at the prestigious Celtic Connections, Glasgow, Scotland. The fusion band is visiting Serbia after performing in the Netherlands in October 2014.
