First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic met today with the new Ambassador of the Republic of India to the Republic of Serbia Subrata Bhattacharjee.

Minister Dacic welcomed the new Ambassador of India to Serbia and wished the Ambassador success in his work.

Minister Dacic emphasized the decades-long friendship and cooperation between Serbia and India and expressed satisfaction with the enhancement of the two countries' bilateral relations in the year marking 70th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia expressed special gratitude to the Republic of India for its firm and principled stance regarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia and expressed hope that India's support in international fora will remain unchanged.

Although the Serbia-India economic cooperation lags behind the traditionally good political relations, Minister Dacic lauded the hitherto engagement of major Indian companies on the Serbian market, and expressed his conviction that cooperation in this field will increase in the coming period.

In conclusion, the interlocutors expressed mutual readiness to further strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation in all areas of common interest to the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of India.
